Artworks Trenton appoints Lauren Otis as its executive director

(According to tretonian.com) our sources have it that, TRENTON >> City artist, and mastermind behind Art All Day, has been appointed as the Executive Director of Artworks. Lauren Otis was appointed to the position following an extensive regional search, according to a press release issued by Artworks on Friday. “We are delighted to have Lauren as our Executive Director,” said Jeff Stewart, chairperson of the Board of Artworks Trenton in the release.
“Lauren brings a depth of knowledge of Artworks and the Trenton community, coupled with an exciting vision of what Artworks can become. We look forward to him leading Artworks to the next stage of its evolution.”

Speaking about his appointment, Otis said “I just think the arts community is a wonderful and supportive community here.” Artists, musicians, writers, and artisans, and bike builders, and you name it, have been working together to the benefit of Trenton.”

On being an active member of the Trenton arts community Otis went on to say, “I know and love these people, and at Artworks am happy to continue to throw in my lot with them. As the new Executive Director I’m looking forward to continuing what we’ve got going as well as starting new initiatives, some modest, others ambitious, to continue to build on the successes Artworks and Trenton have already had.”

Otis served as an Artworks Board of Trustees Member from 2009 to 2014, from 2010-2011 he served as the board’s chairperson. In addition to being named Artworks’ Executive Director, Otis is a freelance writer, editor, photographer and artist, with B.A. in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania.


Artworks Trenton is located at 19 Everett Alley, and is home to an ever changing lineup of artists and gallery showings. It is the city’s on downtown visual arts center. Artworks’ best known achievement is the wildly successful Art All Night, which draws thousands from throughout the area to Trenton. Artworks has been a provider of arts and cultural activities in Trenton for 25 years.
